Folding flat to a mere four centimeters for wall hanging and ease of storage offers the additional benefit of lightweight portability. With an acute focus on proportions, the relationship between each seemingly simple component profoundly impacts the seating experience. Intentionally leaving screws, grooves, and joinery exposed, the Folding Flat Chair conveys clarity and confidence in its workmanship.
Fabricated in solid birch wood, the series is available in Warm Brown, Dark Brown and Natural.
Designed by Casegoods, a Mumbai-based design studio, the chair is a product of India’s rich history in carpentry and workshop culture. Casegoods exercises an iterative process where refinement is just as central to the design as the idea itself. This progressive form of making occurs at their own in-house workshop—a core element of their practice.
Much like FRAMA, Casegoods employs natural materials that originate close to production, exercising the utmost sensitivity to the impact of their work. The partnership between these two brands developed instinctively through closely shared values and a collaborative design approach. The Folding Flat Chair embodies a collective belief that the greatest form of sustainability is to produce work of lasting value.
