Riviera
Opened at the end of summer 2024, behind Riviera is the Italian chef Chiara Barla of apotek 57 — known for creating a welcoming atmosphere in her spaces in addition to delicious menus. With interior architecture by FRAMA Studio, visitors are invited to stay and get to know the new space.
Upon stepping into the new bakery, the FRAMA Farmhouse Trestle stands out as a generous shared table where customers will share meals together — whether intentionally or not. In close collaboration with Chiara Barla and her team, the interior architecture of Riviera was intended to be casual, full of texture and combined organic materials.
A warm red Encarnado Negrais marble service counter brings a sense of permanence into the space, while birch and oak finishes on Folding Flat Chairs and Low Stool 01’s introduce the warmth of the space. Table 57s dot the perimeter of the room, where large windows flood the bakery with light — with help from the Ovoid Sconce, and the Eiffel Pendant Light and Eiffel Wall Lamp in Stainless Steel. The butter white, textured walls in conjunction with flooring made up of stones sourced from the danish underground encapsulate the general spatial experience of Riviera: each element is imbued with meaning; but the overall effect is one of simplicity and the familiar.
Located in a historic bakery in Nansensgade that dates back to the 1960s, Riviera is poised to fill the void of the previous space with a gentle, confident touch — preserving historical elements but standing out in Copenhagen's vibrant bakery scene with Italian sensibility. Guests are encourage to pull up a chair and stay, and even watching the bakers at work on their next "cornetto" or Danish that will change day to day.
