This year, House of Grey and FRAMA participated in a campaign by the NHS in redesigning two family patient counselling rooms and one staff room at the Neonatal intensive care unit at Whittington Hospital in London. House of Grey designed the spaces as well as a new campaign that rethinks the NHS acronym: National Health Service becomes Nurture, Heal, Support. Based on this ideal, FRAMA contributed furnishings that create a space that offers support and care—that feels like home, rather than a transitory, unfamiliar space.

Given the essential need for this project and the opportunity to be part of such an important initiative, neither House of Grey nor FRAMA accepted any fee for their design work—much like healthcare itself, design that promotes health and supports the human body inside and out should not come at a higher cost. With time, the hope of this collaboration and the Whittington Charitable Trust is that projects like these bring this influence to what is considered the norm. To become a benchmark in design.
