With the new addition of Symmetry Armrest Chair, Symmetry Easy Chair, and the first forms outside of seating in the series, Symmetry Mirrors in Large and Small, the series now expands.
Designed by Studio 0405, the series began with the Symmetry Couch and Symmetry Lounge Chair in Ash Wood and Oat Fabric, making use of repeated wood planks in the same width to create mirror images in perfect symmetry. As Mentze puts it, each new item in the series now draws from the same architectural foundation as the original Symmetry Couch, yet expressed through “their own posture and pace.” With a practice that is always rooted in the historical, technical, and architectural roots of design, the Symmetry Series is an example of his instinct for material interplay.

Ash Wood / Oat FabricIn their simplicity, the newest additions to the series each reference traditional Danish and Scandinavian furniture techniques. In the case of the Armrest Chair and Easy Chair, one aspect of this is in their use of webbing: expanding on the Symmetry Series with new use of material that echoes the rhythmic language of the series foundation. Both functional and tactile, the two new chairs are grounded in tradition while remaining materially honest and visually light—a new materiality in the breadth of FRAMA furnishings, and one that offers comfort and tactility without adding bulk, heaviness, or obscuring its architectural foundation and material essentialism.
The Symmetry Armrest Chair is upright and composed—supportive, purposeful, and calm. The Lounge Chair, by contrast, adopts a more relaxed posture: lower, broader, and tuned to a slower tempo, inviting rest. While the couch embraces generous upholstery, the chairs employ interlaced bands for their seats—introducing an expansion to tactile sensibility and material warmth within the FRAMA seating universe.
In addition to supportive seating, the series introduces two new mirror objects. The first extension of the Symmetry Series beyond seating, Symmetry Mirrors are now offered in both large and small scales—a significant addition to the FRAMA mirror collection. As the series’ seating makes use of repeated wood planks to create mirror images in perfect alignment, Symmetry Mirrors now use this design strategy in linear mirrored surface itself. Material interplay with a slim profile and minimal design intervention.
At home, the Symmetry Series now offers shapes well suited to a variety of domestic settings. From the dining room or office with the Symmetry Armrest Chair, to the living room or as a bedroom accent with the Symmetry Lounge Chair and Easy Chair, the formal expressions of the series are adaptable in their straightforward materiality. As for Symmetry Mirrors, their simplicity offers itself to any space that would welcome an expansive element; in the bedroom in large, or entryway in small. A robust assortment arises providing warmth, character, and simplicity to living and work spaces alike.
“Design is never just about the object, but about the atmosphere it creates.” Designed with Nikolaj Lorentz Mentze of Studio 0405, the FRAMA Symmetry Series is a testament to the power of fundamental design and considered proportions within the spaces they sit.
